About the NGVWA Garden Day
The NGVWA Garden Day is an annual fundraiser run by the volunteers of the NGV Women's Association, with funds going to the National Gallery of Victoria Collection. The 2026 event opened six private gardens in Toorak and Armadale for one day only.
What the team did
Lawns prepared over months
Lawn preparation started months before the event so the lawns would be at their best on the day.
Compost throughout the garden
Compost was spread across the garden ahead of the event.
Gully cleared and replanted
Some of the bamboo in the gully was removed. Fresh stones went in and the gully was replanted with extra palms.
Bedding plants replenished
Bedding plants were replenished around the lawns and along the driveway edges.
On the day
Getting a garden ready for an open day
An open garden puts the whole property on show at once. On this job the lawns were the longest lead item, prepared over months rather than weeks. If you have an event, an open day or a sale coming up, it's worth talking to us early about garden maintenance and lawn care so there's time to get the lawn right.
