Consolidated Horticultural Services was founded in 1995 by Alistair Bethke, after he had spent seven years working for the City of Melbourne’s Parks and Gardens division. With his broad experience and hands on approach, Alistair has developed a reputation for maintaining premium gardens across Melbourne’s inner suburbs, many of which have been captured in Paul Bangay’s books.

At CHS, our standard-driven service places a high value on horticultural excellence, as well as the development of positive relationships with clients as we help their gardens grow and develop over time. We understand the financial commitment clients make to their garden, and work to ensure that our maintenance service delivers the intended vision of the original design while being flexible to changing client preferences.

In addition to maintaining gardens, we undertake landscaping projects in the private and public sectors, carry out project work for local government, work on large earthmoving projects, and manage the needs of rural properties including garden maintenance, staff management, equipment maintenance and sourcing, contractor management and infrastructure maintenance. In the development of new gardens, we work closely with designers at the conceptual phase, particularly with regards to drainage and irrigation systems, as well as through the construction and maintenance phases.

Alistair’s experience across high end garden maintenance, events, and logistics, has produced a highly efficient business that delivers a cost-effective approach to the construction and maintenance of horticultural assets.

Operating out of a purpose-built facility in Kensington, we have a team of qualified horticulturists, turf management staff, and landscapers, supported by a dedicated management and administrative team.
